MultiPlan Primary Care Doctor in San Diego

If you see the MultiPlan or PHCS logo on your insurance card, your plan uses one of the largest PPO networks in the country. Healthtopia is in network with most PPO plans, so if you’re looking for a MultiPlan primary care doctor in San Diego, you can see a physician or nurse practitioner at one of our four clinics in Encinitas, Rancho Santa Fe, Hillcrest, and Sorrento Valley.

Can I Use MultiPlan at Healthtopia?

Healthtopia is in network with most PPO plans, so you may be able to use your MultiPlan coverage for primary care visits with our physicians and nurse practitioners.

Because MultiPlan is a healthcare provider network rather than an insurance company, your coverage depends on the specific insurance or employer-sponsored plan associated with your membership.

The easiest way to find out if your plan is accepted is to call Healthtopia at (760) 230-1888. Our team will be happy to verify your coverage, answer your questions, and help you schedule an appointment.

Please note that naturopathic care is self-pay.

Can I Use TRICARE at Healthtopia in San Diego?

The easiest place to start is by calling Healthtopia at (760) 230-1888.

TRICARE coverage can vary depending on your plan, provider network, and whether a referral or prior authorization is required. California is part of the TRICARE West Region, administered by TriWest Healthcare Alliance.

There’s no need to navigate provider directories or sort through insurance requirements on your own. Give our team a call, and we’ll be happy to help verify your coverage, answer your questions, and explain the next steps for scheduling an appointment.

What Can a Healthtopia Primary Care Provider Help With?

Whether you’re due for a checkup or something just doesn’t feel right, these are the things your primary care provider can help with:

Annual Physicals and Preventive Care

A yearly visit to check in on your health, catch things early, and keep your screenings on track.

Often covered as preventive

Chronic Condition Management

Ongoing care for conditions like high blood pressure or diabetes, with regular check-ins on how you’re doing.

Your usual copay may apply

New Symptoms and Routine Concerns

Coughs, rashes, aches, and other problems that need a doctor but not the ER.

Your usual copay may apply

Health Screenings and Immunizations

The tests and vaccines recommended for your age and health history.

Often covered as preventive

Women’s and Adolescent Health

Routine care for women and teens, from wellness visits to the everyday questions that come up in between.

Depends on the visit

Select Lab Testing and EKG

Some lab work and EKGs can be done during your visit, which can save you a separate trip.

Your usual copay may apply

For questions about copays or whether a checkup is fully covered, call the member services number on your card rather than MultiPlan. The company behind your benefits is the one that sets those amounts.

Which Healthtopia Provider Could You See for Primary Care?

Healthtopia’s physicians and nurse practitioners see patients for everything from yearly checkups to new symptoms, and Dr. Asha Raj also brings training in family and integrative medicine. If you’re comparing doctors that accept MultiPlan, you can read each provider’s background on Healthtopia’s medical team page before you book.

Once you find a provider you like, you can keep seeing them for follow-ups, so you’re not explaining your history to someone new each time.

Testimonials

What a refreshing experience all around, compared to the typical big healthcare groups in San Diego. Everything was easier, Including setting up an appointment, providing new patient information, and quick follow ups from appointments with all the details. Did I mention that they can draw blood in the same office? I will not miss going to LabCorp and all of that hassle.

Dr. Hardison has been my primary care physician since 2023, and I truly can’t imagine navigating my health without her on my team. Her diagnostic skills far surpass those of the last five PCPs I’ve seen over the years.

What a refreshing experience all around, I had the best experience at Healthtopia establishing primary care I was in and out in less than an hour!

Healthtopia is the cleanest & most calming doctor's office in San Diego. For years I've been seeing Julianna Gabbard NP who is the MOST thorough, kind, professional & knowledgeable practitioner I know.

FAQs About MultiPlan Primary Care Doctor in San Diego

Check your insurance card for the MultiPlan, PHCS, or Claritev logo, usually next to the name of your insurer or plan administrator. MultiPlan changed its corporate name to Claritev in 2025, but the MultiPlan and PHCS brands still appear on cards. To confirm that a Healthtopia clinician is listed for your plan, search their name in Claritev Find a Provider.

Not exactly. PHCS is Claritev’s primary PPO network, while MultiPlan is its complementary network, which plans often add on top of another network. Your card shows which one your plan uses, and some cards display both.

That depends on your health plan, not on MultiPlan. Most plans that use MultiPlan are PPOs that don’t require referrals, but your benefits booklet or member services line can confirm it.

Generally not for covered services. Providers in the network agree to negotiated rates, so beyond your normal copay, coinsurance, or deductible, you shouldn’t receive a separate bill for the difference.

Your claim goes to the insurer or administrator listed on your card. MultiPlan’s role happens behind the scenes, where it applies the negotiated network rate before your plan processes the payment.
