What Is Primary Care Like at Healthopia?
Our primary care model centers on three things: knowing your health history, making preventive care easier to stay on top of, and giving you access to related services within the same practice.
Personalized Care
Your provider considers your health history, current concerns, medications, lifestyle, and goals when developing a plan for your care.
Preventive Care
Regular physicals, screenings, immunizations, and monitoring can help identify health concerns early and keep routine care on track.
Connected Care
Primary care is available alongside urgent care, select lab and EKG services, integrative medicine, naturopathic care, and telemedicine, making it easier to access related services within the same practice.

FAQs About Primary Care in San Diego
Should you choose primary care or urgent care?
Primary care is generally the better starting point for preventive care, routine visits, ongoing health concerns, and chronic disease management. Urgent care is designed for illnesses or injuries that need more immediate attention but aren’t medical emergencies.
Do I need an appointment for primary care at Healthtopia?
Primary care appointments can be booked through Healthtopia’s online scheduling system. If you don’t see the appointment you need, call the office directly for assistance.
How do I transfer my records from a previous doctor?
You can request a records release from your previous provider and have it sent to the Healthtopia location where you plan to establish care. Bringing recent lab results or a current medication list to your first visit is also helpful if the transfer hasn’t gone through yet.
Does Healthtopia offer virtual primary care appointments?
Yes, some primary care visits can be handled through telemedicine. When you call to schedule, confirm with the team that a virtual appointment is appropriate for your specific needs.
What should I bring to my first primary care appointment?
Bring your current insurance information, identification, medication information, and any relevant medical records or recent test results you have available. The clinic can let you know if anything additional is needed for your specific visit.
Which clinic should I go to?
All four Healthtopia clinics offer primary care, so you can choose the location that’s most convenient for you. Your chart is accessible across all four locations, so you can continue your care at another Healthtopia clinic when needed. Encinitas is the only location with on-site X-ray, while other services vary by clinic.
