Does Healthtopia Accept Medicare for Primary Care?
Yes! Healthtopia accepts Original Medicare for primary care visits with our doctors and nurse practitioners. You don’t need to choose a primary care physician or get a referral to make an appointment. If you have a Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plan, it may also help cover costs that Medicare doesn’t pay.
If you have a Medicare Advantage plan, your coverage will depend on your specific insurance plan. The easiest way to find out is to give us a call at (760) 230-1888. Our friendly team will be happy to check your insurance, answer your questions, and help you schedule an appointment.
There’s no need to sort through insurance information or figure everything out yourself. Just call Healthtopia at (760) 230-1888, and we’ll help you understand your options.
Please note that naturopathic consultations are self-pay and are not covered by Medicare.

Medicare covers two kinds of preventive visits. The Welcome to Medicare visit is a one-time checkup during your first 12 months on Part B, and after that, you can get a yearly Wellness visit. Neither one is the same as a routine physical, so let the front desk know which visit you want when you schedule.

FAQs About Doctors Accepting Medicare Patients
Can a nurse practitioner be my primary care provider with Medicare?
Yes. Medicare Part B covers eligible services from nurse practitioners, along with physicians and other recognized professionals. If you have a Medicare Advantage plan, check that the individual nurse practitioner is in your plan’s network.
What will I pay for a primary care visit with Original Medicare?
After you meet the yearly Part B deductible, you generally pay 20% of the Medicare-approved amount for a regular office visit. A Medigap policy can cover some or all of that coinsurance, depending on the plan you choose.
Do I need a referral to see a specialist on Original Medicare?
No. Original Medicare doesn’t require referrals, so you can book a specialist directly as long as they accept Medicare. Many Medicare Advantage plans work differently and do require one, which is worth knowing if you’re comparing coverage.
Can I switch from Medicare Advantage back to Original Medicare to keep my doctor?
You can, but only at certain times of year. The annual Open Enrollment Period runs from October 15 to December 7, and Medicare Advantage members also get a window from January 1 to March 31 to switch plans or return to Original Medicare.
Does Medicare pay for lab work and EKGs done at Healthtopia?
Medicare-approved clinical lab tests ordered for a medical reason usually cost you nothing under Part B. A diagnostic EKG falls under your regular Part B coinsurance, while a screening EKG may be included with the Welcome to Medicare visit. Ask the clinic which tests are done on site at your location.
